Child Therapy

Children can benefit significantly from therapy, especially if they are exhibiting adverse social and emotional behaviors, are passengers along for the oftentimes tumultuous ride of familial transition, or have experienced any sort of childhood trauma. Addressing these and other issues at a young age can help children to process uncomfortable emotions, build self confidence, and exert their independence.

I strive to create an environment in which children feel comfortable and safe. I use several treatment modalities including Talk Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, based on the needs of your child.

In addition, I provide consultation to parents to help them effectively support their children and encourage their healing and/or personal growth.

Children coming to my practice may be experiencing a wide range of emotional issues, including                              (but not limited to):

  • Anxiety

  • School related anxiety

  • Peer group issues

  • Parents divorce

  • Insomnia or increased sleepiness

  • Self esteem

  • Social withdrawal or isolation

  • Episodes of sadness, tearfulness or depression

  • Overly aggressive behavior; fighting, kicking or hitting

  • Learning or attention problems; ADD or ADHD

  • Development of an increase in physical complaint; headache, stomachache, or not feeling well despite a normal physical exam by your child's doctor

Children's groups run throughout the year. Please contact me to learn about the groups that are currently in session, or to enroll your child in a future group.
