About Margo Porter

I am a licensed clinical social worker and therapist based in Needham, Mass. In my 2+ decades of clinical experience I have helped clients of all ages – from children to adolescents, young adults, adults and families.  My work helps clients process and overcome issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, oppositional behaviors, school-related issues and parenting. I have worked as a supervisor and director in a wide range of clinical settings including community agencies, school-based therapy programs, Behavioral Health Provider at Pediatric Office and outpatient private practices. 

I am an interactive, insight-oriented therapist with a solution-driven approach to counseling. By integrating complimentary methodologies and techniques, I am able to offer a highly customized counseling experience, always designed to help you leverage your strengths in order to experience personal growth and reach your goals – whatever they may be. My private practice has emerged as one of the most trusted and respected in the greater Boston area. 

Calm attention, humor, and creativity are the trademarks of my psychological approach. I select the most appropriate psychological theory based on the needs of each individual client including psychodynamic, family systems, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT informed therapy, ART therapy, SPACE Therapy and mindfulness informed theories and practices. I have a commitment to helping parents through Parent Coaching reach their full potential. My clients learn to identify, strengthen, and leverage their innate assets and natural resiliences in order to overcome obstacles and take positive steps forward in all areas of their lives.
